সংক্ষিপ্ত:Pre-writing is a process where children acquire skills before beginning to write. At this stage it is essential to carry out activities that allow the development of fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and other skills necessary to execute strokes correctly, through playful activities they begin to explore and experience the beginning of writing in a fun way. Therefore, the purpose of the research was to determine how recreational activities contribute to the development of pre-writing in children from 4 to 5 years old at the Escuela de Educación Básica Dr. Edison Calle Loaiza in the city of Loja. Likewise, researchers worked with a mixed approach that helped to obtain qualitative and quantitative data, quasi-experimental design, using the analytical-synthetic methods that allowed to select and synthesize the relevant information for the development of the theoretical framework; and the inductive-deductive contributed to meet the proposed objectives and establish conclusions and recommendations. Similarly, the instruments used were Lorenzo Filho's ABC Test, showing in the initial evaluation that 80% of the children were at the lower and low level, and in the adapted assessment scale with aspects of pre-writing, 67% were at the initiated level, which presented difficulties in pencil grip, cutting and weak strokes. When applying the guide with recreational activities, 83% of the children achieved a higher and medium level in the test, while in the assessment scale, 80% rose to the acquired level. Concluding that recreational activities help to improve pre-writing, besides being a fundamental strategy in the educational environment, it allows children to have a correct grip of the pencil, to coordinate hand, finger and wrist movements, preparing them for the acquisition of writing. Key words: Eye-hand coordination, playful games, fine motor skills, digital tweezers, tracing.
