| Crynodeb: | This research was conducted in the southern region of Ecuador in the Province of Loja in two priority watersheds of Loja Cantón, Monica (intervened) and Carmen (reference). To determine the behavior of these micro basins an analysis of morphological parameters, biophysicists and analysis of soils on riverbanks (organic matter, pH, electrical conductivity, cation exchange capacity, total porosity, texture, and total carbon) was performed. The aim of this study is to determine the quality of the riparian forest through RQI index (Riparian Quality Index) based on seven parameters (longitudinal continuity, width dimensions of the riparian space, composition and structure of riparian vegetation, natural regeneration riparian vegetation, condition of the banks, lateral connectivity, permeability and degree of alteration of the relief and riparian soil) on a stretch of 100 m, each of the parameters were qualified between 1 through 12. Depending on the index it was determined that sections Carmen 1 and Espumos have optimal conditions unlike Monica 1 and Santa Urco where the negative externalities have changed the conditions of the riverbanks . Faced with this problem a proposed restoration was developed. For this species as Alnus acuminata kunth, Solanum torvum, Hedyosmum scabrum ( Ruiz & Pavon ) used to be trees that develops in wet conditions. |
