Περίληψη:Subwatersheds are ecosystems that have suffered major impacts directly and indirectly, those are caused by domestic and economic activities, affecting all type of life forms and quality of water resources. Misahuallí River’s subwatershed suffers the same problem since it has an economically active system. In consequence, this research is aimed to compare the richness and the composition of macroinvertebrates in order to analyze Misahuallí River’s water quality; recorded information in the four sampling points is based on different methods, techniques and tools, such as environmental licenses; transects; IBMWP index (Biological Monitoring Working Party) and the biological index ASTP, which means Average Score Per Taxon and sensitivity values, displaying the following results; it was recorded 28 water sources, from which 21 are polluted mainly by wastewater discharge, illegal mining and fishing, and agrochemical uses; in the four sampling points. 352 macroinvertebrates were identified, which were distributed in 2 Plylum, 4 classes, 8 orders and 11 families; Misahuallí River’s ecological status was determined as "poor", its quality is "critical" with very polluted waters and with a "very disturbed system". This result contributed to develop the proposed Environmental Management Plan with programs to control effluents of domestic origin; for organic waste and natural resource management; environmental training and education; environmental management and monitoring, in order to contribute with a technical instrument to the current authorities, and at the same time to share and implement it in the community of Puerto Misahuallí.
