Samenvatting: | The implementation of constructivist didactic strategies in the teaching and learning process of Biology subject is of pivotal importance for the development of skills with performance criteria in students. The aim of the research was << To enhance the development of skills with performance criteria in Biology, through the application of constructivist didactic strategies to improve the academic performance of students of second year of baccalaureate, class “K” of “Daniel Alvarez Burneo” educative unit, academic year 2022- 2023>>. For the development of the research the inductive method was used, it started with the direct observation to identify the lack of development of skills with performance criteria into the teaching and learning process. The approach was qualitative, through the application of research instruments (observation sheet, survey and interview questionnaire) the factors than affect in the low academic performance of students. According the nature of the information, it is Participative Action research, since the identified problem, an intervention proposal was made and applied that include micro curricular planning, that were executed during a determined period, in which the researcher and students played an active role. Regarding the temporality, it is transversal research, thus, it corresponds to a relatively short period of time. The achieving results, showed the effectiveness of didactic strategies implemented: problematic-explanatory, illustrative – explanatory, discursive strategy and cooperative learning, same that involve forms of reasoning and interpretation to provide meaning to what is learnt, through the continuous interaction and team work, developing in students, skills with performance criteria that results in the improvement of the academic performance.
