| סיכום: | The newborn is an immature individual who cannot satisfy his needs by himself, which makes him qualified as a dependent. Most newborns are born healthy, they do not need special care, but basic care, which is primarily the mother's responsibility; therefore, it is vitally important to help him understand all the changes that occur in the child and reinforce aspects in relation to his growth and development. The present work called "Level of Knowledge on the Care of the Newborn in Primiparous Mothers Who Give Birth at the Isidro Ayora Hospital" had the objectives of: Identifying the sociodemographic characteristics and establishing the level of knowledge regarding the care of the newborn in primiparous mothers. The research was descriptive and cross-sectional, with a sample of 210 women to whom a survey was applied. The results show that; According to sociodemographic factors, 52% are between 13 and 20 years old, 47% are single, as for the level of instruction 50.47% have a bachelor's degree, in addition 44% are still students; Regarding the level of knowledge, more than half of the mothers, exactly 66% have a high level regarding nutrition; Similarly, they have a high level of knowledge about warning signs with 67%; However, the levels of knowledge regarding hygiene 45%, thermoregulation 81%, protection affection and sleep 54% are low, which is interpreted as an alarming situation since it is a fundamental part in the growth and development of the newborn.
