總結:The accelerated increase in carbon dioxide emissions, product of a continuous industrialization of the countries that promote their economic growth, added to the massive burning of fossil fuels as the main source of energy; directly affected the increase in the temperature of the planet, which causes the greenhouse effect. Therefore, this research analyzes how economic growth and fossil fuels affect CO2 emissions. One way to measure this relationship is through GDP per capita and oil prices as proxies to economic growth and fossil fuels respectively. For this, cointegration, regression and causation techniques will be used for 77 countries classified by income levels, during the period 1990-2016. The results that show, regressively there is a positive relationship between CO2 and economic growth; and negative, with oil prices. In addition, a significant effect was found in the short and long term among the analyzed variables. Finally, Granger causality tests show the existence of a bidirectional causal relationship between the variables in all groups of countries, however, in low and low middle income countries, there is a unidirectional relationship from economic growth and oil prices towards CO2 emissions. One of the main policies that could be needed to reduce CO2 emissions is the change to cleaner energy associated with training and social awareness.
