Sumari:The study focused on analyzing the media treatment of abortion in the newspapers El Comercio, El Telégrafo, La Hora, within the framework of the COIP. The issue of abortion in Ecuador is a delicate and controversial issue since it is usually approached from a social and biological perspective, from the framework of sexual and women's rights, from the framework of the criminalization of abortion and finally from bioethics. In the present research, it has been shown that abortion is an indisputable issue in which the media preferably do not impose their position for reasons of moral judgment in a democratic society such as Ecuador. Between the period January-October 2019, the newspapers with the greatest national renown were analyzed, such as El Comercio, El Telégrafo and La Hora. The content analysis technique was used based on agendas setting and framing, and some variables were observed such as: frequency of publication, news hierarchy, news sources, information sources, conflict settings, moral judgment and social framework that intervened in the construction of the messages, presence of the opinion of specialists in the elaboration of the information, among other variables. The results show that the chosen print media do provide news relevance to the topic, although the treatment of the information transmitted to the audience does not meet the criteria of adequate monitoring
