Περιγραφή
Περίληψη:Caprine brucellosis is a zoonosis that has serious and significant economic effects on the livestock industry and on the economy in general. Within this context, the objective of this study was to determine the frequency of antibodies against Brucella melitensis in goat herds in the Limones parish of Zapotillo canton and the risk factors associated with its presence. A cross-sectional observational design was applied in 10 sheepfolds, a survey was applied to producers and 50 blood samples were analyzed by Rose Bengal (RB) and competitive ELISA (EC). The results indicated that after applying the RB test, antibodies were suspected in 18 samples; however, when applying the CE test, all were negative. It is concluded that this disease is not frequent in the goat herds of Limones parish, but they are not exempt from developing it, so it is necessary to implement a proposal for its prevention.
