| Sumari: | The present research called "Multi-temporal Analysis of Land Use Change in Catamayo canton, Loja province", the objective of this study is to carry out the processing of satellite images of the period corresponding to 1996 and 2015, with the purpose of generating maps of vegetation cover and land use, which can be analyzed to determine changes in land use between different years and predict changes for the years 2030 and 2060. In order to comply with this research, geographic information was collected from the database of the United States Geological Survey (USGS) and, secondary cartographic information was collected in the Center for Environmental Geomatics CINFA of the National University of Loja UNL. The images corresponding to the years 1996 and 2015 were subjected to a pre-processing (geometric and atmospheric corrections) and processing (field work, supervised classification, reclassification and adjustment of images), in order to obtain results that resemble reality in the ground. After having carried out the research, it has been obtained that 4 1620.36 hectares of land (61.96%) have remained intact, that is, they don’t present any change in coverage during this period, however, 2 5549.89 hectares (38.04%) have undergone changes ranging from deforestation caused by humans to the expansion of pastures for livestock and agriculture, to the regeneration that occurs naturally in ecosystems. Between 1996 and 2015, about 4 983.94 hectares of forest (7.45%), or 158.60 ha / year, have been deforested in the canton Catamayo, representing an annual deforestation rate of -0.23%. To model future changes in deforestation, a procedure was carried out that involved the analysis of variables that determine changes and the construction of a model that uses these variables to generate a future scenario of changes, where the Land Change Modeler geomatics tool has been used (LCM). With this result, two maps were created, one for the year 2030 and another for the year 2060, where it is observed that by 2030 the forest will be reduced to 9.15%, and for 2060 to 17.83%; in contrast to natural grass, cultivated grass and crops that present the Agriculture class, which increase by 2030 by 42.57% and by 2060 by 43.04%.
