סיכום: | Self-medication constitutes a problem for individual and community health that is maintained because the population is unaware of the risks caused by this practice and therefore follows the instructions of friends, relatives, and pharmacy retailers. For this reason, the objective of the research was to characterize the practices of self-medication and the associated factors in the students of the Medicine Career of the National University of Loja who are taking the Rotational Internship; for this purpose, a non-experimental, descriptive, with quantitative approach and cross-sectional study has been proposed, with a population of 55 students, to whom as an instrument, a questionnaire was applied to collect information and for the statistical processing of the information, SPSS software version 26 was used. Concerning the sociodemographic characteristics, the results showed that 63.6% corresponds to the female gender and 56.4% are in a range of 22 to 24 years of age; with regard to self-medication practices, it was determined that 78.1% had self-medicated in the last year, 32.6% did so with a frequency of 2-3 annual times, while 94.5% obtained the drugs from the pharmacy, and the products they acquired without professional supervision were: analgesics with 85.5% of the students, followed by creams and topical treatments in 70.9%. Likewise, regarding the factors associated with this practice, it was determined that one of the reasons for going to the doctor with 85.5% is when there is stern pain and with 83.3% when the symptoms last more than a week. Finally, it was concluded that self-medication continues to be a common practice and even more so in students who are linked to the health area and there are various factors that are associated with this problem, highlighting mainly the economic factor. |
