| Gaia: | This research work was about Theatrical Techniques: a different way to make comprehensive reading effective with students of fourth grade of General Basic Education; the general objective was to determine the effect of theatrical techniques in the enhancement of comprehensive reading in students of fourth grade "A" at Dr. Matilde Hidalgo de Procel School, in the theoretical framework, topics related totheatrical techniques and comprehensive reading were addressed; the methodology was based on the following methods: scientific, descriptive, analytical, synthetic, inductive, deductive, statistical. To get information, a comprehensive reading test applied to the students and an interview were applied to teacher, the diagnosis allowed to know the level of comprehensive reading in which the students are. The research population was one teacher and twenty-one students. The results allowed us to determine that most of the students are in a low level of reading comprehension, so they can only find information in different parts of the text. However, according to their age for the degree of complexity, most of them should have already mastered activities of the critical level, children should already be able to make inferences and get conclusions about it. To support the development of students´ reading comprehension, a guide of artistic activities called " open the curtain to the imagination" was designed and applied it; according to the results obtained, teachers were encouraged to consider the use of theatrical techniques that is a different way of making effective reading comprehension, considered one of the essential aspects for the acquisition of future learning.
