Determinantes ambientales que influyen en la salud-enfermedad de la población de la parroquia Paletillas del cantón Zapotillo

Environmental determinants are factors that can influence the health of on individual or a community, among these we can mention the availability and quality of water, sanitation waste management, among other aspects that, by not favoring health of people, create conditions conducive to the transmission of diseases. The objective of this work was to analyze how environmental factors influence health in the population of the Paletillas parish. It was a quantitative, descriptive and cross-sectional study, the technique applied was the interview and the instrument was a semi-structured guide based on previous studies applied to a sample of 67 families who lived uninterruptedly in the parish for the period of 5 years. The results show that 79,10% of the population does not maintain septic tanks, 56,72% of the population receives water through pipes, 56,71% eliminates its excreta in latrines located in their homes; 40,30% throw away the waste from the work days on the farms; 47,76% have presented gastrointestinal discomfort and 35,82% have presented some type of respiratory disease. There is zero knowledge about the policies developed by the GAD regarding the management of excreta and waste. To conclude, some environmental determinants present in the parish were identified as well as some gastrointestinal discomforts, respiratory pathologies and adverse signs after the use of agrochemicals
