For the aforementioned, the present research was developed named: "CAUSES AND COMPLICATIONS OF LAPAROSCOPIC COLECISTECTOMY IN PATIENTS ENTERED IN THE REGIONAL HOSPITAL ISIDRO AYORA DE LOJA 2015"; The objectives of this research were to characterize people undergoing laparoscopic surgery, to identify the causes of cholecystectomy, to determine the complications that were present in cholecystectomized patients and to provide an adequate report in order to help prevent any complications. The present study was descriptive, retrospective and quantitative. Patients from the Surgery department who underwent Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy were selected from June to December 2015. 85 patients were evaluated using inclusion criteria, clinical history, postoperative note and data collection form. That allowed to to know that the female gender was the most affected with 80%, while 20% were male, the age range was 19 to 39 years old, representing 56.47%. The most common cause of cholecystectomy was cholelithiasis in 68.23%, followed by acute cholecystitis in 17.64%, and with a lower percentage choledocholithiasis 7.05%. The complications of cholecystectomy were minimal with only 5 cases of the 85 patients, 40% (n = 2) presented bile duct injury, 40% biliary leak (n = 2), and 1 patient presented haemorrhage representing a 20 %. With these results, it is concluded that the female gender is the most affected, the age range in which it occurs is between 19 to 39 years, cholelithiasis is the most common cause and that the complications of this technique are minimal.
