Not defined explicitly and directly to the family estate in our legislation, but the title XI of Book II of the Ecuadorian Civil Code, "which refers to the property and its ownership, possession, use, benefits and limitations", presents the essential elements form a clear idea of the institution. It complements the concept, which provides for the Constitution and what is found in other special laws such as the Mandatory Social Insurance and Mutual Benefit Association Credit for housing.
