Yhteenveto:Parenting styles are patterns of behavior and attitudes that parents use when raising their children; therefore, authoritarian, permissive, negligent, and democratic styles have different effects on the emotional development of children and may influence their ability to develop emotional independence and autonomy. This research aims to describe the scientific evidence of parenting styles in adolescents with emotional dependence, characterize parenting styles, and explain the risk factors for emotional codependence in adolescents. A non-experimental crosssectional design was used, with a descriptive and documentary qualitative approach based on a literature review. The study population was all scientific evidence published in the databases Dialnet, Redalyc, Liberabit, Scielo, and Science Direct; through the selection criteria, we delimited the sample to 10 scientific articles, from which the following results were obtained: a significant relationship between parenting styles and the development of emotional dependence in adolescents, that is, parents who use authoritarian, permissive and negligent styles in raising their adolescent children may contribute to the development of emotional codependence. In conclusion, these findings highlight the importance of considering the impact of parenting styles on the emotional health of Adolescents and underscore the need to promote parenting approaches that foster autonomy and emotional health at this stage of life
