الملخص:Caesarean section is a surgical intervention, it is associated with short- and long-term risks that can cause complications and important disabilities, so they can affect the woman´s and the newborn´s health, sometimes permanently or even the death. The objective of this research was to determine the post-surgical complications in patients undergoing a caesarean section procedure in the gynecology-obstetrics service at Isidro Ayora General Hospital of Loja city during the period August-October 2021, to make a nursing care guide which prevents postsurgical complications and to improve the quality of care to the patients. It was a retrospective, descriptive and quantitative cross-sectional study. A file was used as a data collection instrument that allowed obtaining information from the medical records. The population consisted of 298 clinical histories, and the statistical program Epi Info was used to calculate the sample, giving a total of 118 post cesarean section patients. The results showed that the most frequent post cesarean section complications were: post-surgical pain (38.1%); postpartum anemia (5.9%); wound infection (3.4%); urinary tract infection (3.4%); postpartum hemorrhage (3.4%); hypertension (2.5%) and fever ( 0.8%), where more than half of the study population corresponds to the age range of 21-30 years, prevailing emergency cesarean sections with Pfannestiel type of incision. It is concluded that complications after the surgical procedure such as pain and postpartum anemia occur more frequently in emergency cesarean sections with Pfannestiel incision type. A nursing care guide was developed to provide quality care and reduce possible complications
