Yhteenveto:The gender approach within journalism is a relatively new topic, considering that lines of research are still being explored, which seek to regulate the writing of this perspective, it is important that the narrative presented, especially in cases that address not only gender violence but also femicide, is adequate, regardless of the medium through which they are disseminated. This study focuses on an analysis of the journalistic language of femicide cases in Ecuadorian newspapers: El Universo, El Comercio and Extra, in the period from January to June 2023. The news to be analyzed were determined and the narrative was analyzed by considering the journalistic language, the justification of the perpetrator, victim blaming and social problems. The research combined exploratory and qualitative methodology, using observation as a technique, and observation sheets as a data collection instrument. Through this methodology it was determined that there is inappropriate language that does not attempt to adequately contextualize the cases of femicide, in turn, on many occasions the newspapers issue comments that come to justify the perpetrator, especially one of the biggest shortcomings of the media is that it does not raise awareness of the social problem. This study emphasizes the responsibility of the media to report adequately on such an important issue, considering the legal regulations present in our country and the guidelines that seek a timely communication with a gender approach.
