In this context, the importance of evaluating the impact of FDI in Ecuador during 1976-2020 has been considered, through time series models, in order to propose policy mechanisms to promote value-added activities, through data obtained from the World Bank (2020), The Worldwide Governance Indicators (2020) and The KOF Globalization Index (2020) through the use of cointegration and causality techniques that evaluated the effect of foreign direct investment (FDI) on the manufacturing industry in the short term. long term. In this context, it has been obtained as a result that FDI does not have a direct effect on the industry as they are «swallow» capital flows, for which it is necessary to control and improve certain macroeconomic aspects within the commercial policy, to establish agreements in which the advantages are equated and that the resources invested also benefit the Ecuadorian economy
