Izvleček:The determination of the lipid profile is a practical bound to all hypertensive patients. Its mission is to evaluate other potential cardiovascular risk factors associated with hypertension. Since this is a chronic disease characterized by a continuous increase in blood pressure. About 15 % of the world population is diagnosed as hypertensive and 30% of it 's suffering and for different reasons are not diagnosed or have inconclusive diagnoses in the beginning it is very difficult to diagnose because it produces manifestations appear when the disease has progressed enough to cause damage to target organs such as the brain , heart and kidneys , expressed clinically with headache, dizziness , tinnitus , blurred vision , medical condition where the patient's life expectancy is shortened and quality of life is impaired , still a very serious problem . We therefore conducted a descriptive study of cross section, which was determined by enzymatic colorimetric tests , the lipid profile (CT , TG , LDL , HDL ) in 52 hypertensive patients comprised 37 women and 15 men , who come to the center Zumbi health , also established a relationship between the results of the lipid profile and blood pressure values ​​. Upon completion of this investigation , and by virtue of the above, it was determined that of the 52 patients with hypertension , 85% had elevated levels of total cholesterol, 61% had elevated triglyceride levels, and 52% had elevated levels LDL-cholesterol, while 33% had decreased HDL-cholesterol levels. By establishing relationships with hypertensive patients, 100% of the study sample presented high lipid profile. Keywords: Lipid profile, Hypertension (HTN).
