It is a prospective, transversal and analytical-descriptive study, for which a survey was used as a tool that was applied to a sample of 378 people from a universe of 23453 inhabitants of the Catamayo parish, whose objective is to collect information regarding how much the population of this parish knows about road safety to prevent the traumas caused by traffic accidents, resulting in 88.4% being aware of road safety measures, while 11.6% is not. This means that the population of the Catamayo parish has knowledge about road safety measures, however, there is a minority that does not know about it, therefore, this translates into a risk factor of suffering a traffic accident and with it is a trauma that puts your health and your life at risk. Keywords: Health, Mobility, Risk, Fracture, Population.Se entiende por seguridad vial a la prevención de accidentes de tránsito o la minimización de sus efectos, que pueden comprometer la vida y la salud de las personas, puesto que todo ser humano tiene la necesidad de movilizarse de un lugar a otro, hace que este problema no solo se limite a quienes ejercen como conductores sino más bien involucra a toda la ciudadanía en general, ya que algún momento una persona puede llegar a ser peatón, conductor o usuario de trasporte público o privado, convirtiéndose en población potencialmente en riesgo de sufrir un accidente de tránsito y derivado de este traumas como: cortes, luxaciones, fracturas, entre otros. Se trata de un estudio prospectivo, transversal y analítico-descriptivo, para lo cual se utilizó como instrumento una encuesta que fue aplicada a una muestra de 378 personas de un universo de 23453 habitantes de la parroquia Catamayo, cuyo objetivo es recolectar la información referente a cuanto conoce la población de esta parroquia sobre seguridad vial para prevenir los traumas originados por los accidentes de tránsito, dando como resultado que un 88.4% está consciente de las medidas de seguridad vial, mientras un 11.6% no lo está. Lo que significa que la población de la parroquia Catamayo cuenta con el conocimiento sobre medidas de seguridad vial, sin embargo, existe una minoría que desconoce sobre la misma y, por ende, esto se traduce en factor de riego de sufrir un accidente de tránsito y con ello un trauma que pone en riesgo su salud y su vida.
