Estos trastornos como el hipotiroidismo, hipertiroidismo, la tiroiditis, entre otros, se presentan por un aumento o disminución de los niveles de las hormonas tiroideas en la sangre y representan del 30-40 % de la población. Estas posibilidades aumentan con la edad entre 25 y 65 años, sexo femenino, historial médico de la familia, deficiencia de yodo, enfermedades autoinmunes, entre otras. Existiendo tres grandes grupos o poblaciones de riesgo como son los escolares, la mujer en edad fértil y las embarazadas. Por ello se efectuó un estudio de tipo descriptivo y transversal, donde se determinó mediante el método Enzimoinmunoanálisis ELISA (micro Elisa), el Perfil tiroideo (TSH, T3t, T4t) en mujeres embarazadas que cursan el primer trimestre de gestación y mujeres no embarazadas en edad fértil, que acuden al hospital JuliusDoepfner de Zamora, así mismo se estableció comparaciones en cuanto a las concentraciones de hormonas tiroideas en los dos grupos. Una vez concluida la investigación se determinó que de las 40 mujeres no embarazadas, 17.5% pacientes presentaron niveles aumentadosde TSH, mientras que en 82.5% los niveles de TSH se mantuvieron normales y al valorar los niveles de T3t y T4t en el 100% se encontraron normales. En el grupo de las 40 mujeres embarazadas el100% tuvieron niveles de TSH dentro del rango normal, mientras que2.5% presentó niveles de T3t y T4t aumentados en el primer mes de embarazo. Teniendo en cuenta estos datos se evidencia que el grupo de mujeres no embarazadas son las que presentan alteraciones en cuanto a los valores de hormonas tiroideas. Los resultados fueron difundidos al personal médico y a las pacientes con el fin de conocer la importancia del estudio del perfil tiroideo en la mujer fértil.
