Zusammenfassung:Although the parish Malacatos has large areas of crop and relatively fertile land, poverty Unsatisfied Basic Needs (NBI) in the parish it reaches 77.7%, the predominant economic activity, growing sugarcane, in this Context is important visibility to the reasons for the problem of poverty in this parish and present alternative solutions to the same. In this sense, this research has proposed called "THE RETURN ON PRODUCTION OF SUGAR IN THE Malacatos, canton and province of Loja PARISH AND ITS IMPACT ON POVERTY, 2015" the same general objective "Determining the profitability of growing sugar cane in the different modes of production and the size of the Agricultural Production Units (WCU)". To effectuate the issues raised was used the method of stratified sampling simpler with cane producers in the sector, which are selected according to the amount of land devoted to sugar cane production and thus obtain characteristics and production costs for each type producer and a comparison with the values of poverty and extreme income poverty. This investigation determined the lack of state support for the cañicultor both as regards training and credit, as well as the poor conditions for proper marketing and obtaining fair prices for their production. Alternatively determined by a cost benefit analysis, positive indicators resulting utility to cañicultor, in addition to this it includes the cost of land in the analysis because it is a factor of production, finding indicators of negative profitability, therefore conducted a study of opportunity costs in which it is found that this cost is greater than the utility obtained mainly small sugarcane growers (up to 5 hectares), it is very low, which justifies poverty levels detected in the parish.
