Izvleček:Coffee pulping machines are important in the pulping process because they allow for more uniform and faster drying, thereby improving the quality of the final product. This work focused on the design and construction of a prototype coffee pulping machine with the objective of improving the efficiency of the pulping process. Based on this, a literature review was conducted on coffee, types of pulping, and the machines available on the market, which identified three main types: vertical drum, horizontal drum, and disc pulpers. Considering ease of construction, maintenance, and other relevant parameters, a horizontal drum pulper was proposed for the design. Based on this choice, the design process of the prototype was carried out, which included the selection of components such as the handle, pressure plate, and bearings, as well as the design of parts such as the hopper, drum, structure, base, gears, among others. During operational testing, the prototype was manually fed with coffee cherries through the hopper, from where the fruits descended into a rotating drum with rough surfaces. By turning the handle, the drum generated friction between the cherries and a fixed surface, which allowed the pulp to be separated from the bean without causing damage. The equipment's performance ranged between 95% and 97%, demonstrating its functionality. The project also includes an operation and maintenance guide to ensure the proper functioning of the pulping machine over time. This work contributes to the coffee-growing sector of small producers by offering a solution for pulping small quantities no greater than 12 kg/h which can have a positive impact on both the quality and price of the final product.
