| Sumari: | Postpartum depression is a condition that affects women and new mothers often is not detected by health personnel; affective mother-child relationship is strengthened during the first hours postpartum. Their objective was to identify the factors and the incidence of postpartum depression in patients 15 to 39 years of the Regional Hospital "Isidro Ayora." We included a total sample of 90 postpartum women whose birth occurred in the Isidro Ayora Hospital between April and September 2013 and whose age is between 15 to 39 years, all new mothers I we applied two surveys of which was based on the Edinburgh scale for these objects through data collection to detect the incidence and determinants factors for postpartum depression. The results obtained showed a 31.11% corresponding to 28 surveyed patients met criteria to be classified as postpartum depression, this total of depressed patients 35.71% reported having thoughts of self harm, 57.14% were in the age between 15 and 20 years, 64.28% were single, 50% reported that this was her first delivery, 82.14% had no history of abortion, 78.57% were not using any contraceptive method, 71.42% defined their status economic and bass, 67.85% reported receiving no financial support from his family, 46.42% said that no psychological support of his family, the 42.85% do not have a regular partner and 92.85% do not plan their pregnancy. The incidence of postpartum depression in postpartum hospital Isidro Ayora is 31.11% and the main determinants of this condition are in order of frequency embrazo lack of planning, lack of use of family planning methods, economic status low, lack of a stable relationship and lack of economic and psychological family support.
