Incidencia de desnutrición en niños de 6 a 10 años de edad de la Escuela Luis Antonio Erique del Barrio El Plateado de la ciudad de Loja, periodo febrero julio 2012.

A study has been carried out for a certain period of time among 201children (bet ween 6 and 10 years old) in order to calculate the "INSIDENCIA DE DESNUTRICION EN NIÑOS DE 6 A 10 AÑOS DE EDAD, DE LA ESCUELA LUIS ANTONIO ERIQUE DEL BARRIO EL PLATEADO DE LA CIUDAD DE LOJA. PERIODO FEBRERO – JULIO 2012". The main objective of this investigation is the determination of their nutritional conditions, based on their ratings of body mass, identifying the age and the genre when and where the malnutrition is more frequent. The second aim of this project is the spreading of these results; in order to establish a proposal of qualification which would be agreed by the authorities of that establishment. For this investigation, a sheet named "Base de datos" was used, with: name, age, genre, ethnic group, classroom, procedence place, current residence, weight, height, IMC. Concluding this work, we notice that the higher percentages of undernourishment is in 7-to-9-year-old children, mestizo, from Loja, residents of "El Plateado". As regards the nutritional condition of those children: most them have a normal rating of body mass. However, 4% of them have a low weight. On the other hand, the 17 % have excess weight. We also have in account that the children who have low weight need an appropiate monitoring to establish the definitive reasons of their loss of weight. It is already well-known that child population is very sensitive to contract diseases. This would lead a series in changes of the social and productive setting in a certain society.
