Achoimre:This investigation analysed the environmental impact produced at the park called Parque Amazónico “La Isla” (PALI), due to the eventuality of flooding. The objective was to evaluate the current state of the park through the use of matrix methods, environmental management instruments and environmental laws laid down by the Environment Ministry. Following the floods that occurred in April 2010, it was established that the PALI experienced several social impacts (lack of tourists) and environmental impacts (alteration of soil and natural landscapes and loss of flora). It was confirmed that the study area is vulnerable at a general level of 75% both environmental and social. The methodology applied was analysis via the matrix of identification and valuation of impacts, interviews, checklists and surveys, which were taken by the general public and the staff that work at the PALI. A diagnosis of the biophysical and socioeconomic components was also carried out. The proposal of the management plan consists of the following programmes: a) mitigation of impacts, b) communication, training and environmental education, c) reforestation, d) occupational health and industrial safety and e) monitoring and environmental tracking. These will be useful in order to recover the area of influence that was affected.
