Тойм:The present research work is based on a study carried out with the students, teachers and parents of the Educational Unit San José de Calasanz, of the Saraguro Canton, with the purpose of determining the influence of family factors on the academic performance of students and in this way propose a plan of social action through activities aimed at achieving the overall well-being of the students. In the same sense for the development of the research work, several materials, methods and techniques were used that contributed with the rigor and relevance for the collection of information, which were applied to the educational triad. The main findings obtained in the research show that structural family factors such as socioeconomic aspects, family structure and cultural level affect the academic performance of the students, given that the family has an important influence on the cognitive development of the students. children. Likewise, dynamic family factors such as the family climate, family functioning and communication have a direct relationship with the intellectual development and the scholar adaptation of the student, therefore, it directly affects their academic results, also, the low participation of the parents of family exerts influence in the teaching-learning process. On the other hand, the results of the research indicate that low academic performance is a cause of demotivation, misuse of social networks, lack of commitment and lack of student responsibility. The intervention of the social worker in this approach is oriented to ensure the integral formation of the student through the prevention and attention of situations that affect the development of the student. Its action is focused on the biopsychosocial needs demanded by the student. The intervention activities are focused on the student, family and educational institution to improve the quality of life. Therefore, as an alternative solution and contribution to research, a social action plan was designed to strengthen family relationships and improve academic performance through assertive communication.
