| סיכום: | Cinchona officinalis L. species has been a very representative species for the province of Loja, for its medicinal, cultural and historical value. This species has been named as the National Tree of Ecuador, which represents a transcendental importance for the province of Loja, since the species was discovered in this region. The main threat facing this species was the overexploitation of these trees for bark; in addition to the clearing of forests for the expansion of the agricultural frontier. Making it an endangered species and this has influenced directly on the regeneration and recovery of the species. This research was conducted with the logistical support of the Laboratory of Plant micropropagation, the project "Identification and description of the current state of Cinchona officinalis L., in the province of Loja and generation of protocols for in vivo and in vitro propagation "; and aimed to generate information on production potential and quality analysis of seeds of Cinchona officinalis L., from forest relicts in the province of Loja. The study was carried out in the following sectors: Quebrada del Naque (Loja Canton); Tambo parish, site Uritusinga (catamayo canton); Quebrada San Simón (Loja) and parish Selva Alegre, Santa Lucia site (saraguro canton), meeting the following objectives: a) To determine the reproductive potential of Cinchona officinalis L., from forest relicts in the province of Loja; b) To analyze the quality of seeds of Cinchona officinalis L., from forest relicts in the laboratory, using international standards for the analysis of tree seeds ISTA 2007; c) disseminate the results of research. In these plots they were established sectors, with dimensions 20x30 (600 m2) each. In Uritusinga site, three plots were installed, with a total of 22 trees; Selva Alegre, two plots, with a total of 26 trees; El Naque two plots were installed, with a total of 24 trees; and finally in San Simon two plots were installed, with a total of 25 trees of Cinchona officinalis L., of which the plant material, where the productive potential and seed quality was evaluated was taken. As the results was obtained: the highest number of fruits per tree was presented on the site Selva Alegre 1 054.36 ± 315.65 fruits per tree and El Naque with 918.23 ± 104.36 fruits per tree; while a smaller number of fruits per tree was presented at the San Simón Uritusinga sites and this is possibly because in some of these sites were found unripe fruits, as these did not reach physiological maturity at the same time. As for seed production and weight was found that the site's El Naque present increased production and 1837.58 ± 360.13 seeds per tree, with a weight of 6.94 grams and Selva Alegre with 1,795, 57 ± 850.28 seeds per tree and a weight of 8.81 grams. The results obtained in the investigation as to the standard seed quality testing show that the highest percentage of purity was presented at sites El Naque (46.21%) and Selva Alegre (41.59%). As for the weight, Cinchona officinalis seeds having light weight of 1000 seeds was 0.71 grams, with approximately 1 450.07 seeds per kilogram. In relation to the moisture content of the species present a high percentage (80.46%), which were classified as recalcitrant seeds. Germination in the laboratory, Cinchona officinalis reached a germination rate of 70.50% in the presence of light and 50.0% in the dark, as germination for study sites was rapid and homogeneous, starting is five days after sowing and stabilize made at 35 days. As for the viability of the seed on average this was low 0.58%, ie the seeds quickly lose their germination power. |
