Προσθήκη ετικέτας | Περίληψη: | The purpose of this study was to verify the existing level of knowledge of the primary prevention of pneumonia in mothers of children less than five years of age who are hospitalized in the pediatric department of Hospital General Puyo. In Pastaza, pneumonia is detected due to lack of training of preventative measures in the home, because of which children arrive at the hospital with complications. The design of this study was non-experimental, fixed transverse, descriptive, field bibliography. Data was gathered using surveys and direct observation of patient visits of 113 mothers with a child less than 5 years of age diagnosed with pneumonia in the period from 2013-2014. For this reason, the study proposed implementation of a manual directed at mothers regarding primary prevention strategies for pneumonia, with the purpose of educating the mothers in primary management of this disease from the home, in order to decrease the number of complications. On data obtained, it was observed that 97% of the population does not apply primary management principles for pneumonia, due to lack of knowledge from which the conclusion was made that mothers do not apply primary management of respiratory illnesses, the principal cause being lack of knowledge, for which the proposal of training for the mothers consisting of an educational activity was proposed.
