| Ամփոփում: | The study entitled: Consumption analysis of the genres, formats and open television programs of national coverage preferred by the students of the National University of Loja in face-to-face mode, was carried out with the objective of determining the trend and preference of television consumption of UNL students and build a schedule that would respond to their needs. The research was carried out using a mixed methodology that combined qualitative and quantitative techniques. A survey with open and closed questions was used as a data collection technique aimed at UNL students in face-to-face mode. The results revealed a discrepancy between the preferences of the students and the current offer of open television with national coverage. The most popular genres among students were news, non-fiction, and fiction programs, while open television with national coverage mostly offered entertainment, opinion, and sports programs. It was identified that the programs preferred by the students, such as popular series and soccer championships, were not available on open television. This indicated that students were turning to other entertainment options to meet their needs. These findings highlighted the importance of constantly evaluating student preferences and adapting broadcast television programming to compete with other entertainment options. These results suggest building a programming grid that adjusts to the needs of the students. It can be concluded that this study reveals significant discrepancies between the preferences of the students and the current programming of open television with national coverage. The need to adapt television programming to meet student demands and compete with other entertainment options is highlighted.
