Summary:The research topic. EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE OF PARENTS OF CHILDREN OF FIRST YEAR OF BASIC EDUCATION SCHOOL OF JOSE MIGUEL BURNEO BURNEO Loja AND ITS INFLUENCE ON THE INITIAL learning to read. PERIOD 2014 has been approached from a scientific point of view, in order to give a contribution to the knowledge of the socio actually in the city and province of Loja. The overall objective of contributing to the verification of the problem was: Determine if the emotional intelligence of parents of children in the first year of primary school education José Miguel Burneo Burneo of the city of Loja influences the Initial Learning the reading. For the present research work was the methodology used scientific method, Descriptive, analytic Synthetic, inductive deductive, and Statistical. Which allowed to know the reality of the problem and determine the theoretical foundation. The population studied was 26 children, 26 parents of families, the technique used was a survey of parents and the instrument was applied: the test of what can and cannot read to children. The research concludes with a series of important conclusions one concludes that 58% is not much involved with the school because of friends and work, not realizing that they are hurting their children and only see their welfare and this makes influence the initial learning of reading. In itself 26 parents, corresponding to 100% answered that it is important that your child be a good student to have a study habit you like, so can excel, so consider vital the realization of daily reading as the cornerstone, the same way the test was applied to children giving 20% obtained a mean score; while a total of 21 belonging to 13 boys and 8 girls representing 80% got a low score, which can be diagnosed after having applied the instrument mostly the children had a low score where the teacher together with parents should develop strategies to improve reading in the infant and thus help them acquire skills. And finally we have 26 parents surveyed, five belonging to the 19% do not know how to discipline their children because sometimes they are only children or only live with mom or dad's pampered too this makes them be disobedient and for such reasons. They are not dedicated to the study and have learning problems especially in reading. Giving as finished if that emotional intelligence influences the initial learning of reading.
