Özet:Type II diabetes mellitus and its chronic complications are a visible and tangible problem to be studied and resolved as soon as possible because mean annual expenditure for the government millionaire . The present study aims at determine the main complications of Diabetes Mellitus II clinical area "Hospital Isidro Ayora”. The prospective study included 126 patients with diabetes mellitus I and II, selected through systematic sampling and stratified registry and medical records of patients admitted to the internal medicine Hospital Isidro Ayora. Information on complications was extracted from medical records and specialist service. What could be obtained as a result of acute complications of hypoglycemia is that occurred in 5 people ( 23 % ) , diabetic ketoacidosis in 11 people ( 52 % ) , and hyperosmolar state cetócico in 6 people ( 27 % ) . In chronic complications in diabetic nephropathy found 70 people ( 50 % ) , diabetic foot in 35 people (25 % ) , diabetic retinopathy in 16 people (11 % ) , cerebrovascular disease in 9 people (6 % ) , diabetic neuropathy in 7 people (5 % ) , peripheral arterial disease in 3 people (2 % ) , the period of time between the diagnosis of diabetes mellitus type II and diagnosis of complications was 12.86 years likewise the most common age range of presentation was 50-60 years, mainly presented in the feminine gender also could investigate the disease diabetic neuropathy is less diagnostic criteria meets July 5 unrealized complications scientific basis . I have concluded that female gender has become chronic tendency to suffer complications, and the range of age and duration of disease before complications arise have dropped dramatically.
