Beskrivelse
Summary:Acne is a dermatological disease that mainly affects adolescents, between 13 and 18 years of age, both males and females. Sometimes, this disease can cause several psychological problems in patients, due to the social environment that surrounds them; mainly anxiety and depression are produced due to the embarrassment caused by the severity of acne or sequelae produced by it, such as scars. The present research demonstrates the connection between acne, depression and anxiety, and also identifies young people who should be treated for these problems, so that they can start a treatment together with acne and obtain a good quality of life and therefore a good physical and psychological health. For this purpose, a descriptive, quantitative, observational, prospective cross-sectional cohort study was carried out, in which the patients treated in outpatient consultation with Dr. Janeth Arévalo, diagnosed with acne, were evaluated using Beck's anxiety and depression tests. Within 50 adolescent patients evaluated, it was found that there was a higher incidence in female patients, being 68%; the age between 17 - 18 years presents a higher prevalence with acne, representing 56%; it should also be noted that most patients belong to an urban area, representing 70%; likewise, it was found that from the 50 patients, 50% display certain degrees of depression, and 68% will present different levels of anxiety. In conclusion, it can be evidenced that there is a close relationship between acne and psychological pathologies such as anxiety and depression
