Shrnutí:Gross motor skills is the child’s ability to acquire and perform muscle movements that allow to acquire new learning for the development of their daily life, therefore, it is essential to stimulate them in order to the infants achieve their maximum performance, for this reason, the following objective was proposed: to determine the incidence of traditional games in gross motor skills in children aged 5 to 6 years old of the Santa Mariana de Jesús particular educational unit of the city of Loja, academic period 2021-2022. The present research has a quasi-experimental design, a quantitative approach and a descriptive scope, the methods used were: inductive, deductive and analytic-synthetic. In order to get and collect data, it was used the instrument of Preschool Psychomotricity Evaluation of María de la Cruz and Carmen Mazaira, which was applied to a sample of 24 children between the ages of 5 and 6 years old, where it is evident that at the beginning 47% of children obtained a low level in some aspects related to gross motor skills; and only 9% reached the high level. With the implementation of the alternative proposal "The magic of traditional games" consisting of forty activities aimed at working aspects such as balance, laterality, coordination, force and displacement. Therefore, it is concluded that traditional games promote the development of gross motor skills allowing infants to improve their body movements, explore the environment, develop their creativity and socio-emotional skills among peers and adults.
