Čoahkkáigeassu:Rural tourism is a type of tourism that takes place in rural areas, where the visitor's experience is related to nature, agriculture, gastronomy, ways of life; strengthening the respect and value of their cultural identity, therefore to strengthen it, this research was developed with the general objective: Identify the perception that the population of the city of Loja has regarding rural tourism, from this general objective two specific objectives are derived, the first is oriented to diagnose the activities of rural tourism that are offered in the canton, the second objective to determine the main motivations and preferences of the population of the city of Loja on rural tourism. For the first objective, the techniques used were direct observation, bibliographic review, interviews, the historical method and the bibliographic method. For the second objective, a survey was used, consisting of two phases, one of sociodemographic aspects and tourist profile, and the second phase using a Likert scale to measure the level of visitor satisfaction. As results in the first objective, it was determined that the rural parishes of Loja canton have great potential at the provincial and national level, with enterprises that offer a variety of rural tourism activities duly registered with the MINTUR (Ministry of Tourism), with prices in line with what the demand requires. In the second objective, the perceptions of the population of the city of Loja were obtained, giving results of positive perceptions, to increase cultural activities, in the same way they feel integrated with the culture of the rural sites they visit helping to strengthen cultural identity, considering that the typical gastronomy of rural parishes should be promoted more to attract the attention of tourists and supporting that the entrance fee to recreation areas and protected areas should be charged to contribute to their conversation.
