| description | The gastrointestinal diseases caused for rotavirus still continue being a problem of public health in spite of the application of an endless number of measures to avoid these infections and that at present even affect 5 year old minors of age, for what the present investigation intended to she be identifying by the factors of risk that they predispose to the children to contract rotavirus and to relate the results of Rotavirus's cases to the factors of risk in Catamayo's municipal day-care centers. This study is of descriptive type and of transverse cut, in which there were analyzed 52 samples of fecal matter of the 5-year-old minor children by means of the application of the technology Inmunocromatography, used for the rapid diagnosis of rotavirus for having a high sensibility and specificity; It was determined that found cases of rotavirus are not figures that are considered as an outbreak and risk factors identified in the nurseries are: the non-washing hands after using the toilet, drinking untreated water, handling dirty toys, improper removal of dirty diapers and an incomplete outline of vaccination against rotavirus can produce adverse effects on the health of children; by making a call to attention parents, workers who are is the care of children and people close to put greater emphasis on hygiene measures regarding the care of children. Key words: rotavirus, risk factors.Las enfermedades gastrointestinales causadas por rotavirus aún siguen siendo un problema de salud pública a pesar de la aplicación de un sinfín de medidas para evitar estas infecciones y que en la actualidad aun afectan a menores de 5 años de edad, por lo que la presente investigación se encaminó a la identificar los factores de riesgo que predisponen a los niños a contraer rotavirus y relacionar los resultados de los casos de Rotavirus con los factores de riesgo en las guarderías municipales de Catamayo. Este estudio es de tipo descriptivo y de corte transversal, en el que se analizaron 52 muestras de materia fecal de los niños menores de 5 años mediante la aplicación de la técnica Inmunocromatográfica, empleada para el diagnóstico rápido de rotavirus por tener una alta sensibilidad y especificidad; se determinó que los casos encontrados de rotavirus no son cifras que se consideren como un brote y que los factores de riesgo identificados en las guarderías son: el no lavado de las manos después de ir el baño, el ingerir agua no tratada, el manipular juguetes sucios, la inadecuada eliminación de pañales sucios y un esquema incompleto de vacunación contra rotavirus, pueden producir efectos adversos en la salud de los niños; por lo que se hace un llamado de atención a los padres de familia, trabajadoras que están al cuidado de los niños y personas cercanas pongan mayor énfasis en las medidas higiénicas con respecto al cuidado de los niños.
