Zusammenfassung:The use of contraceptive methods is fundamental in family planning and involves sexual health aspects of the couple. This study was conducted among women of childbearing age in the Gran Colombia Market in Loja, and presented a realistic scenario of a locality and its practice of contraceptive use. The aim was to establish the frequency of contraceptive method use, as well as to determine the age groups that use them and to characterize the women according to gynecological-obstetric data. The study had a mixed, cross-sectional, descriptive and prospective approach, during the period January-December 2022, a universe of 200 women and a sample of 131. A survey was applied, obtaining that 65.5% responded that they used contraceptive methods, of which 24.50% used sterilization as a method; 10.50% used implants and injections and 7.50% used condoms. While 34.50% denied using them. In the age group of 14 to 25 years, 31.58% use contraceptive pills and implants. Between 24 to 37 years, 33.96% use sterilization, 20.75% use implants and between 37 to 49 years, 67.50% use sterilization and 12.50% use injectable methods. Finally, 78.63% responded that their menarche had occurred between 9 and 14 years of age; 61.83% of their menstrual cycle was regular and 38.17% irregular; 61.83% had started sexual life between 17 and 20 years of age; 89.31% had 1 to 2 sexual partners; 63.36% had 1 to 3 gestations; and 26.72% had 4 to 6 gestations. Thus, concluding that the frequency of contraceptive use was high and predominant in the groups of adult women, with sterilization being the most frequent method. And a regular pattern was evidenced that is within the normal among their gynecological-obstetric data
