| Zusammenfassung: | Rotavirus is one of the most important viral etiologic agents of childhood diarrhea worldwide, with greater impact on developing countries. Taking into account that in the parish Buenavista Loja province has not made a study of this type was appropriate to determine the frequency of rotavirus and its relation to the triggers in children under 5 years. The aim of this study was to determine the rotavirus according to sex and related to the main triggers. This study was descriptive, cross-sectional study area was the parish of the canton Chaguarpamba Buenavista, and worked with a sample of 84 children who met the inclusion criteria. For the analysis of stool samples immunochromatographic test was used and predisposing factors were surveyed to parents. Reaching the following conclusions: that 15% were positive with a predominance of males, in terms of the relationship with the triggers is concluded that there is a relationship with piped water consumption and broken, also do not boil the water or use chlorine for disinfection, it is important to mention that excreta disposal is conducted outdoors and there are poor hygiene such as not washing hands after doing the deposition, factors that directly affect the transmission of rotavirus.
