Resumo:The goal of the following research was to assess two artificial insemination techniques on female cattle in Canton Palanda, Province of Zamora Chinchipe. The conception rates were determined comparing variables like: age, weight, body conditions, and conception and gestation rates. A completely randomized design was used with two treatments and five repetitions, using ten mixed race bovine females at reproductive age, distributed in two groups T1 (conventional artificial insemination), T2 (deep artificial insemination); under a protocol of IATF based on (P4 + BE + PgF2α + eCG + BE) and inseminated 48 hours after retiring the implant. Gestational diagnosis scanning was carried out thirty-nine days after insemination, Results show that age, weight and body condition did not have any meaningful differences rate in both treatments. In relation with the conception and gestation rate, when analyzing the data through the ratio comparison test (Compa ProWin 2.0.1), a meaningful statistic difference was determined, obtaining 20%b and 80%a, for treatments T1 and T2, respectively. It is concluded that, with the deep artificial insemination, better conception and gestation rates are obtained because with this method the loss of sperm is reduced, as a consequence of the retrograde flow of cervical mucus due to the phagocytosis during the spermatic migration to the uterus, which warrantees a bigger amount of fecundity capacity sperm in the ipsilateral horn of the ovulated ovary. Key words: deep insemination, conventional, gestation, scanning.
