| Gaia: | Quality of life and some symptoms of depression are exacerbated in patients with CKD, due to the fact that this disease is characterized by progressive and irreversible loss of renal parenchyma. The main objective of the research was to evaluate depression and the level of quality of life of patients with CKD undergoing hemodialysis treatment at the Isidro Ayora General Hospital in Loja city, which was developed with a qualitative-quantitative, non- experimental, cross-sectional and descriptive approach. The technique used was direct observation and the instruments used were: Beck's B.D.I. questionnaire for Depression and the WHOQOL-BREF Life’s Quality scale. The sample consisted of 66 patients corresponding to 100% of the population, which was obtained by means of a non-probabilistic sampling, since a purposive sampling by judgment was carried out, in which it was found that 64% showed minimal depression, 23% showed mild depression, 10% showed moderate depression and 3% showed severe depression. With respect to life’s quality, 24% had a high quality of life, 76% had a medium quality of life and 0% had a low quality of life. Likewise, the most affected dimension was: family and economic problems, while the least affected were those related to the work environment. In conclusion, it is important for the team in charge of renal disease, who constantly evaluate the impact of this disease, to know the most affected dimension in order to be able to provide comprehensive management to the patient |
