Özet:The consequences of the effects of Covid-19 have affected countless health professionals, including those involved in the dental care of people, who, despite wearing specific clothing and following biosafety protocols, work at fairly short distances from patients, which exposes them to immediate contagion. For this reason, the present research carries out an exhaustive review of the main publications on the pandemic, this means, a bibliographic methodological approach was used, in which the diversity of criteria regarding the need to implement biosafety protocols in the dental area was contrasted, the aim is to improve practices, waste management, clothing and patient care. Analyzing different criteria of authors, the most relevant ones were found to be the attention only to emergencies during the pandemic, hand hygiene, strategies for the reduction of aerosols such as high-speed suction and the correct placement and removal of personal protective equipment, the use of N95 face masks or the FFP2, as well as the sterilization of instruments and waste management. This analysis leads to the conclusion that it is important to know the different protocols applied before, during, and after the consultation with the current preventive methods, being clear that biosafety plays a very important role in daily professional life, particularly with the emergence of the new SARS-CoV-2 virus.
