Shrnutí:The corn crop has been and will probably for many years the main activity in the canton Pindal, sustaining development, the economy and the lives of many generations, impacts of policies and production strategies implemented by governmental organizations have failed to respond to the structural problems of the sector, further exacerbating the rapid degradation of agroecosystems and the low quality of life for producers, generating a weak and agricultural development. This research focuses on the analysis of the impact of agricultural policies implemented in the corn sector, and then assess the institutional capacity and governance in the formulation and implementation of production policies, and finally proposes agricultural public policy guidelines participation to promote sustainable development in the corn sector in Pindal canton. To achieve the objectives of the research, the folowing methods were applied participatory methodologies, surveys, interviews, socialization workshops and validating results through actively involving representatives of producer organizations, as well as officials of local autonomous governments. In response to problems or opportunities for development in the production of corn in the canton Pindal four participatory development policies were identified and formulated, whose aims are to: 1) mobilize productive resources including social, economic and territorial equity, 2) establish and strengthen solidarity rural financial systems, 3) promote sustainable associative systems as part of the popular and solidarity economy, and 4) to promote research and technological innovation to improve productivity and product diversification, it is also necessary to promote and advance public articulation strategies - involving private universities and research centers to revalue ancestral knowledge and practices of agricultural production.
