Resumo:The organizational structure is defined as the hierarchical model adopted by an entity in order to facilitate the tasks of its collaborators. This structure relies on elements such as the organizational system, department policies, organizational charts, and administrative manuals. The purpose of this research work is to examine the organizational structure used by companies located in the city of Loja. A comparative analysis was conducted among micro, small, medium, and large factories. The methodology employed was based on a quantitative approach, using a deductive method that allowed for an exploratory and descriptive research, with a non- experimental design. Specific techniques and instruments were applied to collect the necessary information. The target population was 789 factories, 258 of them were selected using a statistical formula. This sample was divided into 173 very small factories, 60 small factories, 19 medium-sized factories, and 6 large factories. The results showed that 38% of these factories have an organizational system, the 37% applies department policies, while 27% use an administrative manual, and finally 15% of the factories have an organizational chart. The discussion section presents a general proposal on the appropriate application of the organizational structure according to the size of the factories, addressing aspects such as the organizational model, type of department policies, administrative manuals, and design of organizational charts. In conclusion, it is observed that a significant percentage of micro and small factories have an informal organizational structure, while medium and large enterprises adopt a more formal structure.
