| Summary: | In this study in 2014 suggested the following: Assess adherence in diabetic patients attending the Zumba Basic Hospital according to glycemic control goals recommended in the guidelines of the Latin American Diabetes Association and American Diabetes Association; determine the glycemic control through glycosylated hemoglobin; Identify the factors that interfere with proper adherence. The descriptive study was conducted to 67 patients of both sexes with confirmed type 2 diabetes who attended for outpatient diagnosis, a sheet of data collection was developed where the general data of patients and the securities are used laboratory tests where the data for this study were caught later was developed statistical tables. The following results were obtained according to the goal of Latin American Diabetes Association and the International Diabetes Federation only 12% meet the goal of glycemic control, this rises substantially according to the American Diabetes Association (glycated hemoglobin <7%) 48 % and even more than 55%, by adding selected 5 patients (patients> 75 years old and patients with end-stage renal disease), with oral agents will get to meet the target by 62% and only 45% in patients using insulin alone or in combination with metformin. ; Only 15% meet comprehensive treatment, 63% is regularly administered drugs, comparing oral antidiabetic types vs Insulin treatment with metformin alone or adhesion of 76% and 45% respectively were obtained. The main detected factors affecting poor adherence is the lack of commitment by the patient, failure to meet the nutritional regimen, and the lack of monitoring by the primary care provider.
