| Sammanfattning: | Worldwide surgery is used by medicine as a treatment or cure for diseases, injuries and deformities, but the lack of attention by health personnel after the surgical procedure is associated with various complications, which is a major health problem that puts the patient’s life at risk. The aim of this study was to analyze the most frequent early complications in postoperative patients with exploratory laparotomy in the surgery area of the Isidro Ayora Provincial Hospital in the period January to June 2021, it belongs to a descriptive, observational, retrospective, analytical and longitudinal quantitative approach. The population corresponds to 1076 post-operative patients whose sample is non-probabilistic of intentional or convenience type, consisting of 72 patients. The technique used was observation and for this purpose a check list was constructed based on the bibliographic review containing data on demographic characteristics, immediate post-operative complications and associated risk factors for complications. In terms of demographic characteristics, 77.78% of post-operative patients presented complications, of which 55.6% were women and the age group that required this procedure was between 18 and 30 years, represented by 43.1%. Among the most frequent early postoperative complications were pain (50%), febrile syndrome (22.34%), infection of the surgical site (12.77%), nausea and vomiting (9.57%). Risk factors associated with postoperative complications included diabetes mellitus (38.89%), advanced age (25%) and obesity (13.89%). In this way, it is concluded that in the area of HIAL surgery, post-operative patients present early PQ complications, which vary from one or more in each patient, which are associated with several non-modifiable risk factors such as diabetes and advanced age |
