The objective of the present study was to study the male reproductive system of guinea pigs, to verify the influence of diet and corticosteroids on the morphometric measures thereof. 3 experiments were carried out, in the first one morphometric measurements were taken of testicles, epididymis, vas deferens, seminal vesicles, penis, penile bone and guinea pig spicules (n=114) of 8, 10, and 12 weeks of age; in experiment two were evaluated with diets with 32% and 40% neutral detergent fiber (NDF); while in the experiment three morphometric measurements of the reproductive system were analyzed in guinea pigs treated with 0.3 mg/kg dexamethasone (n=10), 0.25 mg/kg flumethasone (n=10) and 0.125 mg/kg physiological solution (n=10). Descriptive statistics and analysis of ANOVA variance were performed. Experiment 1: age influenced the morphometric parameters of the reproductive system, absolute and relative measurements of testicle, tail of epididymis, duct deferent, seminal vesicles and penis were higher (p<0.05) for 10 and 12 weeks compared to 8 weeks. Experiment 2: no differences were found (p>0.05) in the measurements of the structures of the reproductive system of guinea pigs fed with different percentages of NDF. Experiment 3: No effect (p>0.05) of glucocorticoids on macroscopic measurements of male reproductive tract structures. In conclusion, the factors influencing the measures of the male reproductive system are age and weight, while NDF levels do not cause variability during the growth phase; Likewise, the use of corticosteroids in recommended doses does not affect the development of male organs. El objetivo del presente trabajo fue estudiar el aparato reproductor masculino de cuyes, verificar la influencia de la dieta y de corticosteroides sobre las medidas morfométricas del mismo. Se desarrollaron 3 experimentos, en el primero se tomaron medidas morfométricas de testículos, epidídimo, conducto deferente, vesículas seminales, pene, hueso peneano y espículas de cuyes (n=114) de 8, 10, y 12 semanas de edad; en el experimento dos se evaluaron con dietas con 32% y 40% de fibra detergente neutra (FDN); mientras en el experimento tres se analizaron las medidas morfométricas del aparato reproductor en cuyes sometidos a tratamientos con 0,3 mg/kg de dexametasona (n=10), 0,25 mg/kg de flumetasona (n=10) y 0,125 mg/kg de solución fisiológica (n=10). Se realizó estadística descriptiva y análisis de varianza ANOVA. Experimento 1: la edad influyó en los parámetros morfométricos del aparato reproductor, las medidas absolutas y relativas de testículo, cola del epidídimo, ducto deferente, vesículas seminales y pene fueron mayores (p<0.05) en cuyes de 10 y 12 semanas en comparación a los de 8 semanas. Experimento 2: no se encontraron diferencias (p>0.05) en las medidas de las estructuras del aparato reproductor de cuyes alimentados con diferentes porcentajes de FDN. Experimento 3: no hubo efecto (p>0.05) de los glucocorticoides sobre las medidas macroscópicas de estructuras del tracto reproductivo masculino. En conclusión, los factores que influyen en las medidas del aparato reproductor del cuy macho son edad y peso, mientras que los niveles de FDN no causan variabilidad durante la fase de crecimiento; así mismo, el uso de corticosteroides en las dosis recomendadas no afecta el desarrollo de los órganos masculinos.
