El dinero plástico como medio de pago en la ciudad de Catamayo.

The use of credit and debit cards, known as plastic money, is an important payment method for social and economic development, facilitating the portability of money and the collection process by simply holding plastic cards, which offer convenience and security the both cardholders and owners of commercial establishments. The general objective of this research is analyzing the acceptance of plastic money as a means of payment in the city of Catamayo, specifically in the tertiary sector. The study is exploratory and descriptive nature; the survey was elaborated as an instrument for the collection of information, which allowed measuring the level of acceptance of plastic money. Through which 201 commercial establishments were defined. The results show that commercial establishments in general have a low level of acceptance of plastic money. Similarly, in the correlation analysis it was determined that the type of institution and the average sales have a significant relationship with the acceptance of plastic money. While variables such as location and time in operation have no relationship whatsoever. In general, the acceptance of plastic money in the city of Catamayo is low level, with a range of 0% - 25% of transactions, scale proposed by Villegas et al. (2016) and Fuentes and Argüello (2015). Despite the fact that the canton has a large economy, the cultural issue is the one that affects the level of acceptance.
