Riassunto:A significant challenge has been encountered in managing and controlling class planning in the Systems/Computer Engineering program at the National University of Loja (UNL) due to the execution of manual and physical processes. Communication, efficiency, and cost are some of the challenges generated by these traditional methods. This limitation was addressed in a thesis project that aims to develop a specialized software module to address these issues. Its purpose is to automate the management and control of class scheduling in the Systems/Computer Engineering program at UNL. Furthermore, this work is aligned with the "Sustainable Development Goals" 4 and 9, which promote quality education and innovation, focusing on Applied Software research. Consequently, the project was divided into three clearly defined phases. This entails analyzing the current process through the use of BPM RAD methodology, resulting in an automation proposal based on the understanding and documentation of the current process. In the second phase, the software module was developed using the XP methodology, with the purpose of optimizing the management of lesson plans. Finally, a detailed plan was established to carry out the implementation of the module in a real environment. The automation of the lesson planning process offers remarkable improvements, such as more efficient management, time and resource savings, as well as improved communication between the actors involved. It is proposed that an application be developed for mobile devices to integrate with both the module and the university's Academic Management System, thus extending the system's functionality. The project was based on different methodologies, such as BPMN and XP, and counted on the active collaboration of professors and the course director. The XP methodology enabled the efficient division of labor, which resulted in the success of addressing 10 user stories in four iterations. As a result of the BPM methodology, an in-depth and detailed view of the existing process was provided, paving the way for its automation. Through the implementation of this software module, lesson planning has been significantly improved, ensuring more efficient and effective management of academic tasks.
