Description
Résumé:The research aimed to carry out a sectorial diagnosis of the retail clothing sales activity in the Loja canton to know its characteristics and create industry averages. To achieve this, a mixed approach combining qualitative and quantitative data collection was used to understand the sector. Interviews and observations were conducted with the different business owners in the sector. These techniques provided detailed information on business practices, advertising strategies, inventory management, and supplier relationships. The data collected made it possible to establish financial indicators such as current liquidity, acid test, total indebtedness, return on assets and equity, and non-financial indicators such as supplier management, purchases on credit, imports relative to purchases, sales per employee, and returns to suppliers. The study revealed that the retail sector of clothing in the Loja canton is highly competitive, with barriers to entry related to economies of scale and import requirements. Furthermore, the results indicate that the liquidity of these businesses largely depends on inventory, and they have a very good profitability with an average ROA indicator of 14%. Among the results of the non-financial indicators, it can be highlighted that they largely rely on imported products and have an average of 6 merchandise suppliers. Therefore, this project provides valuable information for various stakeholders in the sector.
