Resumo:University students throughout their professional preparation may experience situations that could generate instability in their mood or emotional expression, such as anxiety, this clinical condition can be linked to biopsychosocial processes that could increase or decrease their symptomatic burden. At this point, social skills emerge as a set of behaviors that facilitate interpersonal relationships, and that place a point of influence in the appearance or absence of anxious symptoms. The main objective of this research was to determine the relationship between anxiety levels and social skills in clinical psychology students. The study had a quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional, exploratory and descriptive approach. The population sample was delimited through a non-probabilistic and intentional sampling with selection criteria, reaching the participation of 124 university students. The instruments applied were the Inventory of Situations and Responses of Anxiety (ISRA) and the Goldstein Social Skills Scale, which allowed identifying that most of those evaluated had anxiety levels ranging from moderate to severe, and that the entire population presented a normal and good level of social skills. It is concluded that there is no relationship between the anxiety variable and social skills, because regardless of the level of anxiety in the study population, social skills were not affected. Finally, a psychological intervention program was designed focused mainly on the intervention of anxiety and the promotion of social skills in this population
